Carnival 50

NEW FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT:  CARNIVAL 50 WILL CREATE A STIR IN LEEDS AND BIRMINGHAM WITH ARTS FUNDING CONFIRMED!

Carnival 50 in Leeds and Birmingham 2017 in collaboration with ACE dance and music and RJC Dance.

Moving Souls Dance is working with ACE dance and music and RJC Dance to create a unique tapestry of dance, music and costume for the Leeds 50th Anniversary Carnival in August 2017.  This troupe will bring many diverse elements together under the vision of large Carnival costume design led by Kathi Leahy (Associate Creative Director Imagineer Productions) and Carnival artists from RJC dance in Leeds and ACE Dance and music in Birmingham.

Great news – we can now confirm that Arts Council England has awarded us project funding to support the Carnival 50 programme in Leeds and Birmingham.  This means that we will be able to build some large scale costumes designed by Kath Leahy from Imagineer Productions (Coventry).  Young people and elders will be involved in the parade and making their own carnival costumes and all will be seen with live music provided by Eternity drummers from Amsterdam.

Come and see the final spectacles and be amazed!

They will be performing in Leeds on Monday 28th August 2017.

They will be performing in Birmingham on Saturday 23rd September 2017 as part of the Birmingham Weekender Festival.
