About this Event

In Motion: Midlands Creatives is a curated evening of dance, performance and film, with diversity at its heart. Showcasing emerging producers working together with partners across indoor and outdoor events to demonstrate the strength of artist connections and programming networks within the Midlands Area. Establishing their strengths and passions, Megan and India reveal what has driven their selection of work presented in this showcase ‘In Motion’.

Throughout the evening excerpts of work from projects created in the Midlands using the various art forms of film, dance and theatre performance will be presented which will be followed by dynamic artist discussions. Further questions will tease out how programmers and producers can engage locally and allow the arts to flourish with participants and audiences. This is not just a showcase — it’s a space to celebrate pioneers within the industry who have supported and engaged with us over the last few months.

This PEP programme, set up by Moving Souls Dance to identify and train producers through work placements, has been funded by the Arts Council. The programme has worked with regional partners and individual artists/ curators: ACE dance and music, Sampad, Red Lens, Sima Gonsai working with Flatpack Festival and Same Difference Festival working with Wolverhampton CEP (Cultural Education Partnership see https://wolverhamptoncep.org/) and Newhampton Arts Centre.

Featuring performances from:

• Ace Dance and Music with a short Carnival Dance performed by their adult group.
• Red Lens featuring a monologue from False Accounts, performed by cast members from their recent show.
• Curated film presenting experiences from Same Difference festival and Sarah Hamilton’s work.
• Screen Dance short film.
