Training Producers
Empowering the next generation of producers to create bold, inclusive events that bring people together.
About Our Training Producers Programme
At Moving Souls, we believe celebratory events start with great producers. Our training programmes equip emerging producers with the skills, confidence, and networks to thrive in the cultural sector.

What We Offer
Our producer training blends practical learning with real-world experience. Participants gain hands-on insight into every stage of producing, including:
Event Management & Logistics
Learn the essentials of planning and delivering events, from concept through to completion. We cover scheduling, health and safety, risk management, and everything that ensures an event runs smoothly.
Financial & Contract Management
Build confidence with the business side of producing. Gain practical skills in budgeting, managing project finances, writing contracts, safeguarding participants, and ensuring artists and organisations are properly supported.
Creative Producing and development
Develop your creative voice while learning to deliver projects that inspire. Explore participatory practices, screen dance curation, and outdoor event production, while understanding how to balance artistic vision with audience engagement.
Professional Development
Go beyond project delivery and shape your career path. Learn how to write proposals, secure funding, build partnerships, and grow as a producer capable of leading ambitious, sustainable cultural projects.
Mentoring & Networks in the region
Benefit from hands-on guidance and support as you grow your skills. Our team and partners provide mentoring to help shape your practice, while connecting you with artists, organisations, and opportunities across the cultural sector.

We don’t just teach – we connect producers with opportunities to put their skills into practice.
From placements with festivals and arts organisations to co-producing live events, every participant experiences what it means to lead projects with creativity and responsibility.
Discover first-hand insights from participants in our Producing Emerging Producers (PEP) Training Programme as they share their experiences on work placements with festivals and arts organisations.

More about our PEP Programme
Learning from the pilot programme MSD extended the time frame and range of training days before the producers took on the work placements. We had many more applications to the programme and selected 3 producers. We offered them 6 days of training hosted at ACE dance and music studios covering event management, financial management, outdoor event preparation and participatory management, safeguarding and chaperoning participants, artist contract management and screen dance curation.
Work placements were offered to 2 producers with Dance curator Sima Gonsai working with Flatpack Festival, Red Lens Theatre producing False Accounts and ACE dance and music producing outdoor Carnival for Birmingham Weekender 2025. Both producers worked on the Same Difference Festival and will be co-producing a showcase of work: In Motion at the Midlands Arts Centre on Thursday 18th September 6pm – 7.30pm.
MSD will be developing Producer Development Projects with both producers through 2025 – 6 to empower them to find new projects and partners, develop their producer skills from initial idea and proposal development to finding funding to deliver these new projects. Moving Souls Dance will provide support and mentoring when appropriate.
